Welcome to Vibroseis wave generation service for acoustic and magnetostrictive applications.
This service package allows you to construct a complex waveform for use in your acoustic or magnetostrictive application. This complex waveform may be called an "Actuation Signal". To begin construction of the Actuation Signal, you may start fresh by selecting "Generate New File" from the menu. You will select the number of waves and total time for your Actuation Signal. Each wave contains a carrier, a control envelope, and a repeat rate. If you have more than one wave, then you have the ability to set a time stagger between waves.
Once you have selected the number of waves, a set of boxes appears for each wave. These allow you to choose the type of carrier, control envelope, and repeat rate.
Once you have selected the parameters for your waves, you may save your settings as a configuration file. A configuration file has a .vib extension. If you want to access your configuration file again, you may go to ".vib files" on the menu and select from the list of .vib files. In this way, you may reload a previous .vib file to review the settings or change the settings to create a new .vib file.
At any time, you may generate a .wav file from your settings. Press "Generate .WAV File" button. A .WAV file will be generated, which you may download.
Selecting the Carrier
The Carrier may be a sine, square, triangle, or obtained from a user file. A data input box allows you to select the frequency of the carrier in hertz.
Selecting the Control Envelope
The Control Envelope may be a ramp, box, or obtained from a user file. Data input boxes allow you to input the amplitude and time of the envelope.
The Control Envelope will be used to vary the amplitude of the Carrier over time.
Selecting the Repeat Rate
The Repeat Rate is the time to wait before repeating the Control Envelope. This creates a pause between successive repeats of the envelope.
More than One Wave
If more than one wave was selected, then the Carrier, Control Envelope, and Repeat Rate boxes are repeated for each wave. In addition, an input box appears, allowing you to set a time stagger between waves.
The Stagger is the amount of time to pause before a particular wave begins. This time is set relative to any other wave. For example, if you have three waves, you may choose to stagger the start of wave 2 by 1.0 second from wave 1 and you may choose to stagger the start of wave 3 by 2.0 seconds from wave 2.
"Generate .WAV File" button
This button performs the task of generating a .WAV file from your settings. For each wave, the carrier is combined with the control envelope with pauses inserted per the Repeat Rate. The waves are added together, staggered based on the Stagger setting. The overall duration of the .WAV file is set by the Total Time setting.
"Save .vib File" button
This button performs the task of saving the settings in a .vib configuration file for future use or reference. The file name is the same as for the .WAV file.
